My Role
Visual designer
Project
The goal of the project was to create an unconventional representation of a set of articles about antibiotics. Healthline staff writer did a major research and interviewed numerous scientists, doctors and politicians regarding the topic.
At the time, the standard Healthline article template was not able to display the amount of text and images we needed for these articles, so we had to find a solution to mediate this problem.
I teamed up with another designer to come up with a new template for these articles, as well as any other similar content in the future that would follow this format.
We came up with full width design, also implementing a long scroll technique to fit all the provided content on one page. The article was divided into sections, where each anchored section would have it’s own heading and a brief description laid over a supporting image with the idea that it would focus users attention. A number of pull quotes, accentuating important information were placed throughout the article allowing the user to share the quote via Twitter.
End Result
After publishing the set of 6 long form articles Healthline brought needed attention to the topic of overuse of antibiotics. It was heavily discussed and shared throughout social media and Healthline social media communities and received great feedback from users who were interested in the topic.
